Each year the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County has an event celebrating Volunteerism. United Way community partner agencies take part in this celebration by choosing a Volunteer of the Year to honor at the event. This year the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Jamestown locations chose Ann Hellman to honor as its Volunteer of the Year.
Ann Hellman is a huge supporter of Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. and has had the ability to experience what the agency has to offer as a caregiver and as a volunteer. Ann is a giving and very caring person who visits the participants in the program and is happy when she can make them happier. She makes the day more special by bringing in sweet treats for everyone and donates baked goods and other treats for agency special events. Ann has even volunteered her time to help promote the services provided by the agency agreeing to be a guest speaker on a radio talk show.
Outside of the treats and her warm personality, Ann is able to add more enjoyment to everyone by providing pet therapy for the older adults in the program. She visits the site on a regular basis with her friendly dogs. Seeing the room light up when she arrives with a smile and her canine friends is a true indicator that she is getting what she enjoys, the opportunity to make others happy which makes her happier too. Ann is a true asset and supporter of the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc.
In addition to the United Way event, the agency also partners with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. RSVP helps recruit and provide the day programs with volunteers who help out in many different ways. All in all, volunteers are important in enabling the agency to be able to provide older adults in the community with quality care and support.
