Present Center Enjoys a Karaoke Session
March 2014 – Recently, participants at the Chautauqua Adult Day Care, Present Center enjoyed a karaoke day, thanks to Rose Loverme, a local resident who volunteers and provides musical entertainment for those who come to the program.
In her “Reminisce with Rose” show, she encourages participants to sing a song, by handing them the microphone and providing the music. Those not wanting to sing, are encouraged to clap, tap their toes, or get up and dance!
Rose’s show includes some minor costume changes, and props, much to the enjoyment of those watching. She plays music from our participants era. Ms. Loverme says she gets a lot of pleasure playing for the individuals at the Present Center and she loves spending time with seniors.
In a recent visit to the Senior Day Program, as she was picking up her equipment, a participant came up to her and hugged her, and thanked her for coming in and sharing her time with the others. “I always feel rewarded at the end of my show”, Rose told the staff, and “I love seeing the big smiles on their faces.”
Music has always been a big part of the activities at the Present Center, and Chautauqua Adult Day Care is lucky to have her share her time and talent with those who attend.
Ms. Loverme discovered a need of music around the county, and brings her music to area nursing homes, rest homes, and senior complexes. She has been volunteering for more than 5 years. If you’re interested in having “Reminisce with Rose” visit your site, Rose can be reached at 720-4512.
