Let’s Get Together

February 2014 – Everyday is a day worth celebrating for the staff, administration, and clients at Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc.  and Valentine’s Day is no exception!  With its historical and King and Queen_weblegendary roots in both religion and romanticism, February 14th is a day long known for bringing together, celebrating love and friendship, and recognizing the good in our fellow mankind.

Longtime CADC employees and Taft Centers  Program Coordinators, Melinda Rojas (Taft) and Diane Samuelson (Present) collaborated and gathered Jamestown clients and staff together for an afternoon of music, dancing, festive food, decorations, and fun at Jamestown’s Taft Center.  On hand was musician, Bob Vilardo, who was at times joined in song and dance by various clients and staff.

Clients and staff socialized at colorfully decorated tables, enjoying conversation while partaking in the Valentine-themed cookies, sandwiches, and cupcakes.  Prior to the party, clients nominated fellow clients for the roles of Valentine’s Day King and Queen, a tradition that was started last year.  This year clients voted Larry Feldt as the King and Brenda Bowker as the Queen.  Executive Director, Frank Bercik, was on hand to join in the festivities.  Clients were given festive bags of treats to take home with them.

Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers Inc. is a not for profit United Way agency, which offers affordable Senior Day Programs for adults sixty years of age and older who live in the community. The agency has four sites that serve all of Chautauqua County.  The programs provide socialization and offer many opportunities for older adults to participate in activities during the day in a caring friendly atmosphere with supportive staff and companionship.

The sites provide breakfast, snack and a noon time meal for participants.  There is also a Community Recreation Program that helps persons participate in outings in the community and the sites offer pet therapy, ceramics, music programs, arts and crafts and much more on an ongoing basis.  There is also a Saturday Program available in Jamestown.    Funding is available.  For more information call 664-9759.
