January 2014 – Families caring for loved ones with Dementia face numerous challenges every day and it can feel as if you are alone in your struggles. Please know that the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York is here to help. We have professional Care Consultants available to speak with you 24 hours a day 7 days a week at 1 (800) 272-3900. The 800 number is a great way to learn more about the many ways the Alzheimer’s Association can be of assistance. We offer classes and programs for people with a diagnosis of Dementia, caregivers, community groups and professionals, online and in person throughout Chautauqua County. Support groups are available in Dunkirk, Fluvanna, and Jamestown. The chapter has many other programs such as: Information and Referral, Advocacy and Public Policy, Research, Respite, and Safety Services just to name a few. In addition, Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. offers a day program specifically for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Loss in Jamestown, NY. The Present Center is open Monday through Friday and offers a safe and secure environment. The program offers nutrition, case management, transportation and daily activities.
